The Improve OCAS Movement is a coalition of animal rights advocates fighting for local elected officials to improve the Orange County Animal Services Division and the shelter infrastructure.
What We Are Advocating For:
Shelter Infrastructure Improvements
Infrastructure improvements from better air-conditioning, kennel separators, soundproofing, and increased overflow capacity are inexpensive ways of saving dogs’ lives within the shelter.
Increased Transparency within the OCAS System
Transparency on medical cases, behavioral issues, euthanasia track records, increased access to data, and public records would help the community understand the internal needs of OCAS.
Stronger Community & Rescue Engagement
Many volunteers, rescues, and supporters are working past their limits, trying to facilitate adoptions with little interaction with the shelter staff.
